Sneak Preview: Morocco!

Morocco! Where to begin with Morocco... For this year's Spring Break, my sisters and I met up in Morocco for a 10 day adventure throughout several of the country's cities. We had a wonderful experience, and there's so much I'd like to write about it. It will take some time to blog everything, but in the meantime, here is a quick preview of our trip as told by my Instagram pictures. :)

Souks and narrow alleys
First stop: Tangier. We flew into Tangier, a port city in northern Morocco. We quickly immersed ourselves in the culture wandering aimlessly around the medina and the city.

Beautiful blue
The next day we took the bus to Chefchaouen, a beautiful town known for its blue walls and doors. Despite the rain, we thoroughly enjoyed strolling around the medina.

Sisters reunited :)
It continued to rain on our second day in Chefchaouen, so we took refuge in a hammam which was an amazing experience. We spent the rest of the time walking around the medina and relaxing.

A pop of color in the Blue City
Next city on our itinerary was Fes, the second largest city of Morocco. It was still drizzling a bit, but we managed to walk around the huge medina. The one of Fes is huge, with 9,400 twisting alleys.

Same intricate details on the doors, different city!
In the Fes medina
On our second day of Fes the rain finally quit! We saw the exquisite doors of the Royal Palace, visited a tannery, hiked near the medina walls, and ended the night with a cooking class in a Moroccan home.

The next day was the first day of our three day desert tour. We drove to Merzouga making many scenic stops on the way. We ended the day with a camel trek to the desert and spent the night in a Berber tent in the Sahara Desert.

Off to spend the night in the desert

The next two days were spent taking the long cut from Merzouga to Marrakesh, stopping along the most beautiful panoramic views.

We arrived in Marrakesh in the evening, but spent the next day on a day trip to Essaouira, a gorgeous port city about 2.5 hours away.

Essaouira, where Game of Thrones was filmed
Our last full day in Morocco was spent exploring Marrakesh. We visited the gorgeous Jardin Majorelle, shopped around the souks, and ended the night with our favorite Moroccan dish.

This beef stew is called 'tanjia' which takes its name from the urn-shaped clay pots the dish is cooked in
Morocco is such a treat for the senses and an amazing cultural experience. Will definitely be sharing with you guys soon about it. :)
