Birthday weekend at Málaga (Part 3)

I started off my birthday with Sunday morning mass at the Cathderal. Construction of the Cathedral was halted in 1728, and the Cathedral was never finished. It thus lacks the South Tower, and was given the nickname La Manquita -- the one-armed woman.

After mass I met up with Lyle and Julie, and we walked by the park, Paseo del Parque, to the port. Again, Málaga is so beautiful with its abundant green spaces.

We walked by the port and on to the beach. The Málaga harbour is the second busiest cruise port of the Iberian Peninsula, and we did see a lot of cruise ships docked there.

They say that the weather is good all year round in Málaga, and so it's always a good time to go to the beach.

Right by the city, east of the port is La Malagueta. At 1.2 km is actually a man-made beach. It was nevertheless beautiful.

That's me on the G in case you can't see, haha.

Beautiful beach
And then we ventured on to La Caleta, the beach right beside La Malagueta. Another beautiful 1km stretch of sand and blue skies. The beach is apparently cleaned daily (it was really clean), and is supposed to be the cleanest in the area.

The weather may have been great, but the water was freezing, so we just waded in the water for a bit.

We had our last meal in Málaga at Chiringuito la Tropicana right by the beach. A chiringuito is a small business, usually a bar, by the beach. I think these were originally those small beach shacks that sell cheap food, but this particular one has obviously since evolved.

The food was great though. I tried some of the grilled sardines (another famous plate from Málaga) along with some prawns and a nice glass of white wine.

Perfect way to end my birthday weekend at Málaga. :)
