The week before last was a busy one, with our school celebrating a Semana Cultural or cultural week. Us English teachers donned some typical blouses and joined the rest of the Guatemalans in celebrating their culture. 2018 English Team Much like  last year 's, for each day of the week, we had a different activity. First up were folkloric dances. We had the adorable kids from Pre-K join us. I sat with this cutie who was amused by the front camera of my phone. Grade by grade, the students performed for the parents. There were some traditional dances, and others that were more story-like depicting a market day or a corn harvest. It's no secret that I love to eat. While I'm no food blogger, I enjoy trying new restaurants, as well as frequenting old restaurants but trying new dishes. Also, taking pictures of my food and then attempting to write about it. Antigua is a pretty good place for a food lover, what with the plethora of restaurants it has to offer. Moreover, because of the many expats who have settled down in Antigua, there are several good international or fusion cuisine restaurants around town. I do love Guatemalan food (posts about Guatemalan eats here and here ), but I have it everyday during the school week, so its nice to have something a little bit different on the weekends. At school, we are now into the fourth and last quarter, and we have a mere six weeks to go before the end of the school year! While this year we have other subjects in English like Music, Art, P.E. and Life Skills, I teach mostly Language Arts, and to the younger grades (Kinder, 1st, 2nd and 3rd). I’ve been scrambling to finish the curriculum we’ve put into place, all the while assessing it to see if we need to make adjustments and improvements for next year. It’s a lot of work, and tiring at times, but I love the challenge it brings. When we’re not busy teaching, classes get interrupted now and then for sporadic events. A few up below: First up we had a carrera (a race), where 10 students were selected (one to two students from each grade), to participate in a short race for a bunch of schools in our sector.
