The day after Machu Picchu, we took the train back to Ollantaytambo, picked up our bags, and took a colectivo back to Cusco.

The front of the colectivo. Forgot to take a picture of the outside, but it's basically just a van. |

On the way back to Cusco |
We arrived back in Cusco around noon, and it was a beautiful day. We dropped off our bags in our hostel and set out to explore Cusco. We picked a hostel at the main square,
Plaza de Armas. In many Hispanic American cities, Plaza de Armas is the name given to the main square. The Plaza de Armas of Cusco is so beautiful, with a nice park in the middle and two main churches - The
Cusco Cathedral (on the left below) and the
Iglesia de la Compañía de Jesus (on the right).

Side of the Cathedral |
Walked around the streets of Cusco, so many are lined with shops.
Walked up to the
Barrio de San Blas. Lots of markets and artisan workshops, and offers a picturesque view of the city.

Many streets still had signs with their quechua names |
We heard mass at one of the nearby churches, and on our way past the main square we saw some Peruvians doing a traditional dance.
We tried some
ponche de leche during dinner, a yummy hot milk drink spiced with cinnamon, especially good on cold nights.
