Day 89: The Today Show & Central Park

Before Dan left, we woke up at 6am to try and get on The Today Show! The Today Show is filmed live every morning at their studio in Rockefeller Plaza, and at the Plaza there is always a crowd of people with signs hoping to get 'interviewed.'

The guy in pink selects several random people who are interviewed/talk about their signs

Several people brought their own signs but they also have a booth where you can make signs on the spot

My sign - the date on the poster is wrong haha

We didn't stay for very long. The show starts at 7am, I think. They let people in the plaza at around 6:30. They start to interview them but the segments aren't showed live, they show at 8am. So Dan and I just hung around for a while - maybe we were somewhere in the back of the crowd on that day's show. :P

I took Dan to his bus to the airport before lunch, then I spent the afternoon in Central Park. Central Park is huge (it covers 843 acres which is 6% of Manhattan); I was only able to explore the lower half of the park.

Green lawns and rocks
Caught some softball games going on and I watched a few innings.

Sheep Meadow, an open area popular for sunbathing and picnics.

Walked up to Strawberry Fields, a memorial dedicated to John Lennon. The entrance of this section is located across the apartment where Lennon lived.

The famous lake and Bow Bridge, which offers breathtaking views of the park.

Nearby the lake is the Bethesda Fountain, dubbed the "heart" of Central Park.

And the Bethesda Terrace, one of the most popular film locations in Central Park.

I had a lovely afternoon walking around, relaxing, and reading in the park.
