Day 86: New York, New York!

On Friday, I waited for Dan to arrive from Ecuador. He came in at around noon, and then we set out to explore.

First up, Chelsea. We visited the Chelsea Market and bought some pasta for lunch. It was a make-your-own-pasta sort of take-out; you could choose your noodles, sauce, and add any toppings you wished.

They had some pretty interesting flavored pasta
Four cheese & bacon fusilli for me and pomodorro & mushroom meat ravioli for Dan

From Chelsea Market we walked to the High Line and had lunch at a table overlooking the city. The High Line is a 1-mile elevated public park built on an old railroad line. It's really interesting and pretty. The place is so amazing, how they incorporated the tracks into a park, and also the designs of the benches and seating areas. I actually didn't get to take a lot of pictures because Dan and I were talking a lot, but the place was super cool.

They even have some art installations spread throughout the park.

We saw some really good street art too. This one is by a Brazilian street artist Kobra, based on the famous V-J Day in Times Square photograph.

We walked from one of the entrances in 14th St uptown to the end of the High Line. Then from there we continued uptown and passed by Madison Square Garden, an indoor arena home to the NY Rangers (ice hockey) and the NY Knicks (basketball).

Then from there we walked to Times Square!

After Times Square we stopped by the NBA Store on 5th Avenue, then headed back home to rest a bit before dinner.

We ended the night with dinner with our cousins from our mom's side, two of whom live in NY, and the other six of us we're visiting. We had dinner at Wolfgang's Steakhouse, and stuffed ourselves with steak. (We had leftovers on Sunday and on Monday, and the meat was still so good!)
